OSTEOPATHY

What is Osteopathy?

Osteopaths consider each person as an individual, treating all ages. The patient as a whole is examined and evaluated. If considered suitable for treatment, the osteopath will then use gentle stretching and mobilising techniques. They will give exercises and health advice to alleviate symptoms, and improve health and quality of life.

Osteopaths strive to eliminate the underlying causes of poor health and function, encouraging better long-term health for the patient. Rather than diagnosing and treating symptoms, the osteopath seeks the causes and treats them, ie: problems that predispose and maintain the condition.
Osteopathy is now recognised by the government with the passing of the Osteopaths Act (1993). All osteopaths are required to register with The General Osteopathic Council (GOsC).

Common complaints

People will seek help from an osteopath for a number of conditions, such as:

  • Lower back and sciatic pain
  • Neck pain
  • Joint pain e.g. hip, knee, shoulder, elbow
  • Headaches and migraines

And more.

How can we help?

Cranial Osteopathy

Refined and subtle type of osteopathic treatment that encourages the release of stresses and tensions throughout the body, including the head. It is a gentle yet extremely effective approach and maybe used in a wide range of conditions for people of all ages, from birth to old age.

Musculoskeletal Injuries

Through gentle 'hands-on' manipulation of the musculoskeletal system, we can remove pressure on nerves and improve blood flow and lymphatic drainage to areas of the body to promote healing.

Sporting Injuries

Athletes frequently struggle with acute and chronic conditions. We can discuss the cause of the problem and help to improve overall wellbeing whilst playing sports.
